Thinking back to when I was a newbie, I did find the chat option helpful. But not every CS is that patient or takes the time to explain every small detail in the trading platform.

Yes I agree with you, once I even passed through all Forex brokers live chats to check if they show kind attitude and only a couple of them were really benevolent. I liked Admiral Marlets, NordFx and IFC Markets among so many brokers. Actually, this point should be worked out by all companies.

Actually, both Trader's Way and FXCM provide great support, including chat. However, with Alpari, it takes them forever to answer some of my queries. Granted my queries are a lot more advanced these days but still..

Yeah, I know - you would think that some of these brokers would train their customer support to be more responsive..but guess we will have to wait patiently for that to happen, LOL.

live chat is a great options for any broker, given that the support is knowledgeable, most support are there for account issues and inquiries, but im not pretty sure when it comes to some trading technicalities and stuff. but still live chat beats calling and emails, where emails takes a decade to get a decent response and some times calles cost more, im like half way around the globe from where my brokers is at LOL

Yeah, would definitely go with chat. Some of us head out on vacations, and calling the broker all the way from Thailand is way too expensive.

Live chat indeed is a good way to communicate with your client . But other hand the person sitting for live chat just have some common statement in response to possible question for satisfying his customer/client

I also greatly appreciate when a broker has Toll-Free number. Not all traders trust Live Chat and it is natural. After all you neither see the person, not hear him. All sometimes calling from another country through common number is quite expensive. So in this case Toll-Free is the best variant for you. Skype is also an effective and convenient contact means. Free and what is most important, you can see the person with whom you are contacting.

Yeah, toll free is great though only a few select brokers provide for the tollfree number. Or use skype to call them up. I'll wait for the call to end to figure out if I am being charged.

Cannot believe it, yet another query to a broker (new), and a half baked reply along the lines of "Please check our website for more information, thank you" to a very, very specific query.
The query in this case was with regard to micro accounts, initial deposit, deposit options and custom app functionality. Not going to try this broker.
Never thought that the chat could be used to sort out brokers but guess it is turning out that way..

those replies are what i hate the most, and at some point i read about how some replies can be redundant more like a copy/paste thingy.. live chat reflets the broker, eveen if you do not see the person behind the monitor but it will alwas tell you about the broker and how they work.

I like the idea of skype, toll-free is always a good step by the broker, like how some IBs tend to be online all the time and some of them even exert an extra effort to fix small issues with tradrs :)

Of the three I use regularly, Trader's Way, Alpari and FXCM - all the three answered the queries, on spot never mind how technical it got. But this broker, with that canned reply, really p***ed me off..
I agree, all brokers should list their skype addy and list a toll free number..makes more sense since we are all online MOST of the time, 5 days a week.
