Hello,

Sorry for the somewhat cryptic title; I couldn't think of an easy way to condense my question.

What would you consider a good percentage of gains in a week?

I saw a screenshot a while back of some guys earnings for a week or 2. He had numbers like 2-3% per day. This would equate to 10-15% a week.

Is that good? Is it very good? is it lame?

take care,
lee

Hello,

I find your answer a bit perplexing. I have been doing Forex since September, and since mid November, I've averaged 14.23% a week. Is this just a lucky fluke?

Anyone else want to ring in here? Not so much if the 10-15% a week is normal but what you might consider a so-so, good or very good week as far as percentage gains goes.

take care,
lee

So were they some guy's earnings or were they yours?

Hello,

They are mine. I have worked very hard to learn money management and a strategy that seems to fit my needs.

BTW, I wrote November above, but I meant December.

I've had a lot of successful positions on the JPY markets. So maybe, like I said, it is a lucky fluke. Maybe next week I will be doing -15%. ;)

If the capital or investment is high, then 10% - 15% per week is probably ok. Lets say you are trading with about 1000$ in your account, 10% would be 100$ per week. Well, this is ok, but not really ok for those who want to make a living out of forex. So, it all depends on your capital investment.

Some interesting views in here. I would certainly have to "side" with those saying that 10-15%, on a weekly basis is a lofty goal. If you are shooting for consistency (which you should be) then aiming for such a high level will not help you achieve your goals.
Personally, I shoot for 10-20% on a monthly basis. Where exactly in that range depends on a few factors, the largest of which is current market conditions for the assets I favor.
Trade smart and be lucky all!
