Asian equities were set to slip on Wednesday as halted COVID-19 vaccine trials and an elusive U.S. The Shanghai composite was down 0.78% to 3,333.73. Overall, the Singapore MSCI went down 0.64% to 293.25.Over in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index down by 0.28% to 24,580. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 climbed up 0.07% to 23,616 ,while the Topix index was down 0.43% to 1641.92. South Korea’s Kospi down 0.93% to 2,382.18. Australia S&P/ASX 200 down 0.13% to 6187.8.
European stock markets are seen opening mixed Wednesday, with investors looking to the world’s central bankers for guidance as the coronavirus tightens its grip. The DAX futures contract in Germany traded 0.1% higher, CAC 40 futures in France dropped 0.1% and the FTSE 100 futures contract in the U.K. rose 0.3%.
Overnight in the Wall Street, The Nasdaq 100 down 0.04% to 12083.17. Dow Jones closes at 28679.8 down 0.55%,NYSE closes at 13211.95 up 0.85%, S&P 500 closes at 3511.9 down 0.63%.
In the currency market the dollar edged higher, the US Dollar index was up 0.05% at 93.58. GBPUSD down 0.27% to 1.2897. The USDJPY up 0.03% to 105.50 .The USDCHF flat at 0.9146.EURUSD flat at 1.1741, EUR/GBP up 0.31% to 0.91042. The USD/CNY down 0.06% at 6.7408, at the time of writing.
In the commodity market Gold was up on Wednesday morning in Asia, as hopes that the latest U.S. stimulus measures would be passed by Congress before the Nov. 3. U.S. gold futures up 0.33% to $1,900.75. Elsewhere, Silver up 0.24% to $24.18 per ounce, platinum up 1.02% to $876 per ounce, and palladium up 1.83 % to $2,362.
Oil prices slipped on Wednesday on concerns that fuel demand will continue to falter as rising coronavirus cases across Europe and in the United States, Brent crude futures (LCOc1) for December fell by 12 cents, or 0.3%, to $42.33 a barrel by 0355 GMT while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (CLc1) futures were down 11 cents, or 0.3%, to $40.09.
In the Cryptocurrency Markets, BTCUSD at 11434.9 down 0.06%, Ethereum at 383.46 down 0.44%, Litecoin up 1.2% at 50.579, at the time of writing.
Corporate news: Shares in BlackRock Inc (NYSE:BLK) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.91% or 24.07 to 638.96. CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) added 2.99% or 200.0 points to end at 6900.0 and Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) was up 2.69% or 120.0 points to 4580.0 in late trade. Apple Inc. Slipped 1.1% and Boeing Co.dropped 2%. Ford Motor Company up 1.17% to end at $7.76 ,Liberty Global up 0.29% at $22.68, Sunrise communications AG flat at 109.3.
Economic news: The European Union would prefer to have a Brexit deal, but it is ready in case no agreement can be reached, the Commissioner for the EU’s single market. The Fed’s preferred inflation measure, the core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index rose 1.6% in the 12 months through August. September’s core PCE price index data is scheduled to be released at the end of this month. The consumer price index rose 0.2% last month after gaining 0.4% in August. The CPI advanced 0.6% in both June and July after falling in the prior three months as business closures to slow the spread of the coronavirus weighed on demand. New motor vehicle prices rose 0.3%. In China, Imports surged 13.2% in September, returning to growth from a fall of 2.1% in August and much stronger than expectations for a 0.3% increase.
Important Data: Japan Industrial Production (MOM-AUG) stood at 1% previously 8.7%.US Core PPI (YOY-SEPT) to be announced at 8:30 today estimated to be 0.9% previously which was 0.6%. European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde is to speak today. In the US PPI (MOM-SEPT) to be announced at 8:30 today earlier which was 0.3%.US weekly API crude oil stock to be announced at 16:30 previous week reported as 0.951M. AUD Employment change for the month of September is scheduled to release at 20:30 local time today, previous was -350K and the forecast are 111.0K.
