why do you think metaquotes ceased the trading contests.....
//-----

this is a question that has truly puzzled me for many years...... perhaps someone here will have a more informed point of view.....

when asked back then, metaquotes official response was we are investing all our time into mq5's development...... understandable.....

by now, mq5 should be considered developed.....

so what gives....... if the original contests were to show case metatrader 4, why not promote mq5 in the same manner.....h

The last MQL5 Championship was in 2012 and it was for MT5 expert advisors. I see two possible reasons for that they stopped holding new championships:
  1. Diminishing returns - they are already quite a popular platform for automated trading, so the costs of holding such a championship might not be worth it.
  2. Such championships don't motivate traders to write good EAs, they motivate them to write EAs that will risk as much as allowed by the rules to earn profits as fast as possible.

thanks enivd...... actually thought you might know the exact reason for sure......

if we consider how much metaquoutes has changed since the initial mq3 till now , i can imagine that lack of free time and the overall distraction must have some bearing......

we will probably never know unless lenar himself fills us in.......

i never competed but enjoyed reading the interviews and trying to figure out what the ea's were doing......h

just think of all the trading websites that are now gone..... it's sad...... all the information and work wiped out., whether fully or partially.....

it's long been a habit of mine to download and save valuable web pages and videos..... before that information is pulled off the net and lost for all time.....

metaquotes is a good example..... a few years ago forex-tsd was merged with mq5 forums...... that did not go well...... much was lost and many links no longer work..... during that time considerable amount of the mq4 and mq5 forums suffered the same.....

most of the metaquotes trading contests information is gone...... i'm not sure that we will ever be able recover each contestants individual results page..... i still try.....

here are some of the interviews...... always enjoyed them..... if your serious about trading, or new to trading, these short pages might help...... even have enivid's interview.......

back when his hair was short.......lol......h

nikolay kositsin might be the worlds best mq4/mq5 coder...... have studied him for years......

in his interview he says, The conclusion is that the market always has some trends, and one should first of all take into account these trends......

that has been my experience also......h

MetaQuotes may have shifted focus to development priorities, especially with the emphasis on MetaTrader 5’s broader capabilities. Contests, while effective for MT4, may not align with the direction they want for MT5. Additionally, ongoing platform evolution and user feedback could have influenced the decision to halt contests.
