DAILY MARKET OUTLOOK on Major

USD/JPY - 115.12
Despite dollar's selloff from last Thursday's 5-week high of 116.33 to as low as 115.02 (Fri), then break there to 114.85 in New York on safe-haven yen buying yesterday, intra-day rebound from 114.80 on de-escalation of Russia-Ukraine tension signals pullback from 116.33 has ended and consolidation with upside bias remains for 115.87 later.

On the downside, only a daily close below 114.80 would risk one more fall to 114.56/60.

USD/JPY - 114.98.. The pair swung broadly sideways in Asian on Monday after staging a rebound ffom Friday's near 2-week trough of 114.80 (Asia) to 115.29 in Europe before retreating to 114.98 in New York as Russia-Ukraine tension pressured U.S. stocks n pushed US yields lower.

Although price rebounded from 114.88 (AUS) to 115.12 on positive Ukraine news (see early updates for details) suggests choppy trading abv 114.80 would continue, consolidation with downside bias remains for erratic fall fm Feb's 116.33 peak to head twd projected target at 114.56 later today.
Offers are tipped at 115.10/20 with stops touted abv 115.30 while bids are noted at 114.85/80 with stops reported below 114.75.

Data to be released next week :
New Zealand imports, trade balance, exports, Australia manufacturing PMI, services PMI.
U.K. Rightmove house price, Japan Jibun bank manufacturing PMI, China house prices, Germany producer prices, Markit manufacturing PMI, Markit services PMI, France Markit manufacturing PMI, Markit services PMI, EU Markit manufacturing PMI, Markit services PMI, U.K. Markit manufacturing PMI and Markit services PMI.

EUR/USD - 1.1299.. Euro remains under pressure in hectic Asian trading on Tue after y'day's roller-coaster ride ended with price falling fm 1.1390 (Europe) to as low as 1.1307 in holiday-thinned N. American afternoon as heightening geo-political tensions in Ukraine (see MMN) led to broad-based euro selling vs usd, yen, chf n gbp.

Despite initial break of 1.1307 low to 1.1297 in Australia on stop-selling, price briefly bounced on short covering to 1.1319 in early Asian morning but only to succumb to another round of euro selling at Tokyo lunch break, suggesting re-test of last week's 1.1281 low would be forthcoming next, break there would extend decline fm Feb's near 3-month peak at 1.1495 to 1.1268, then later twd 1.1222.
Offers are tipped at 1.1315/25 with stops touted abv 1.1350 while bids are noted at 1.1290-80 (profit taking) with stops reported below 1.1280.

The euro area countries will release a slew of data, please refer to our EI page for details. Pay attention to German Ifo data but Russia n Ukraine news will take centre stage.

Despite dlr's early brief buy strong rebound from Monday's near 4-week trough of 0.9151 to 0.9228 (Tuesday), yesterday's fall from 0.9219 (Europe) to 0.9169 in New York due to safe-haven CHF buying on renewed Ukraine tension (see our MMN) would re-test 0.9151, below, 0.9132/37.

Remain as cautious seller for 0.9140 after consolidation and only abover 0.9200/05 may risk 0.9219.
