The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index declined more than 1% on Monday as US yields continue to rise, undermining high growth and tech sectors.
As measured by the Fibonacci retracement tool, the Nasdaq has erased nearly 50% of the rally from March lows to April highs. However, the critical resistance remains at the 200-day moving average, currently near 15,200 USD. Regarding the Ukraine war, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Sunday that Ukrainian forces could push back Russian troops successfully so that they were forced to retreat and regroup.

Bears pushed the Nasdaq below the 50-day moving average (the purple line) at 14,330 USD, changing the short-term outlook to bearish. As long as the index trades below the 50-day average, the next target for decline seems to be at 13,900 USD. If the index jumps above 14,330 USD, we might see a bullish reversal, targeting 14,630 USD in the initial reaction.

However, sentiment might stay bearish in the near future as the Fed seems ready to deliver more rate hikes than previously expected, likely crushing the high-debt and high-growth sectors, tech included.

On Tuesday, the metal traded 1% higher, jumping toward 25.40 USD as traders sold the USD and bought everything else following the recent inflation report. The CPI for March came out above expectations and printed 8.5% yearly (up from 7.9% in February), while the monthly change jumped from 0.8% to 1.2%. However, the core CPI rose only a notch to 6.5% against expectations of 6.6% and actually decreased monthly from 0.5% to 0.3%, which could have been the main reason behind the euphoric growth of nearly every asset class.

"USD remains supported due to the Fed's active monetary policy, but a lot has been priced in as regards monetary policy so that USD will probably find it increasingly difficult to appreciate further." economists at Commerzbank reported ahead of the data, which came true.

Silver is now pushing toward the critical resistance of previous highs near 26.40 USD. However, if broken to the upside, further gains to 25.80 USD seem likely. Alternatively, if sentiment worsens again, we might see a drop to today's lows near 24.80 USD, which might be the essential short-term support.

GBPUSD Refuses to Drop Below 1.30​

Bulls are ferociously defending the critical threshold of 1.30 as the Pound so far refuses to close below it on a daily chart. At the time of writing, the GBPUSD pair was seen marginally higher on the day, erasing earlier losses and turning positive.

Data released earlier by the UK Office for National Statistics showed that consumer price inflation rose to 7% in March as energy and food prices surged. That was the sharpest jump since 1992, up from 6.2% in February and above analysts' expectations of 6.7%. Core CPI, which excludes volatile items such as food, energy, alcohol, and tobacco, rose to 5.7% in March from 5.2% the month before and was above consensus expectations of 5.4%.

ONS chief economist Grant Fitzner said: "Broad-based price rises saw annual inflation increase sharply again in March. Amongst the largest increases were petrol costs, with prices mostly collected before the recent cut in fuel duty, and furniture." Should the Pound drop below the 1.30 threshold, larger stop-losses of long positions could be hit, likely dragging the pair further lower toward 1.2860.

Alternatively, if bulls manage to defend the 1.30 zone and push sterling higher, the first resistance is expected at the steep downtrend line at 1.3050. The critical medium-term selling zone seems to be at previous lows in the 1.32 region.

Dow Jones Forms Bullish Flag Pattern​


The Dow Jones index pushed higher on Thursday, rising circa 0.3% ahead of the US session, trading near 34,650 USD at the time of writing.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin said that peace talks with Ukraine had hit a dead end. Instead, Putin promised that Russia would achieve all of its "noble" aims in Ukraine.

"We have again returned to a dead-end situation for us," Putin told a news briefing during a visit to the Vostochny Cosmodrome east of Moscow. "We don't intend to be isolated," Putin added. "It is impossible to severely isolate anyone in the modern world - especially such a vast country as Russia."

However, it looks like markets have gotten used to it, and investors don't react to news from Russia/Ukraine anymore. In other news, yesterday’s data showed that the Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 11.2% yearly and was up 1.4% monthly. Both were the most since records began in 2010 and above economists’ forecasts. The core PPI, which leaves out volatile food and energy prices, increased by 7% yearly. The 0.9% advance in March was the largest since January 2021.

The index is currently trying to break from its flag pattern, which in this case, is a bullish continuation formation. The resistance of this flag is near 34,675 USD. We might see a leg higher if the price jumps above that level, targeting the 35,000 USD threshold. On the other hand, if sentiment deteriorates, we might see a decline to the 34,120 USD level, which could be the essential medium-term support. A breakdown below it might lead to a larger correction.​

Stop Loss Order.
A stop loss order helps traders by closing a trade at the market price as soon as the instrument has been dealt with or through a marked price.

In other words, if the trading instrument reaches the trader's stop price, the order flips to a market order and executes at the subsequent best-known price. Now, the third wave of the lower level (iii) of iii is developing, within which the wave iii of (iii) has formed, the correctional wave iv of (iii) has ended, and the wave v of (iii) is developing.

If the assumption is correct, the pair will grow to the levels of 2100 - 2200. In this scenario, critical stop loss level is 1890.45.
